Starting on June 9, the annual RDMV graduation exhibition «End of the Season» will open, where young designers and artists present their creative experiments and ideas. In several locations around Riga you can view the qualification work exhibitions, attend a fashion show, and discover the new generation’s perspective on art.
«End of the Season» is a creative series of events where RDMV students showcase the skills they’ve developed over four years in design and art. The year 2026 marks an important stage of development – this year the school graduates its first new talents in Visual Arts. At the same time, this is also the first year in which part of the learning process took place in the prototyping workshops at Riga Makerspace, allowing students to realize works within a professional creative-industry environment.
Process as a central theme
«End of the Season» is not just a final point. It is a captured moment in which becomes visible what usually goes unnoticed – exploration, the search for ideas, experiments, and repetitions. Design and art are often perceived through the result – an object, space, image, or garment. However, each of these results is the sum of many invisible choices. This year, the event cycle offers a glimpse into the creative process, revealing the development of ideas from sketch to realized work.
Event program
From June 9 to June 25, at 21 K. Valdemāra Street, the Visual Arts program project will take place with the first graduates’ exhibition «Getting lost Is Allowed» in which the young artists’ creative process, like a mycelium network, connects various disciplines in a shared field of exploration.
From June 12 to June 30, the Qualification Project Exhibition will be on view in the school spaces at 139 K. Valdemāra Street, where alongside realized Communication Design and Interior Design works, viewers will also be able to see idea projects, sketches, and initial drafts, revealing the process of how the works were created.
In the Product Design exhibition, which will take place from June 12 to June 22 in the creative quarter «Veldze» at 8 Matīsa Street, products for public spaces, interior objects, as well as fashion accessories and jewelry will be visible.
Meanwhile, on June 11 at 6:00 PM, at the prototyping workshops «Riga Makerspace» at 13 A. Briāna Street, a Fashion Show is expected, where young clothing designers will present their qualification work collections.
The Qualification Project Show «End of the Season» is an opportunity to glimpse into RDMV’s creative environment and get to know the thinking, processes, and ideas of young designers and artists. It reveals not only what has been accomplished, but also the journey by which the works were created – from the first impulse to realization.
The event cycle is implemented with the support of the State Cultural Capital Foundation.
