Drawing and painting are the subjects taught to all students of the school from year one to year four. The methodology cycle programme is designed so that the students can use the acquired basic professional knowledge in their chosen occupation and successfully continue their studies in universities and colleges.

CLASSICAL DRAWING AND PAINTING

Classical drawing and painting – these are the fundamentals that a future artist or designer needs to know. When we have knowledge of the basics or the ABCs, we can go further, using the knowledge and skills; we can develop, transform, synthesise, break down and deform objects without losing their semantics. Classical drawing and painting give an idea of three-dimensional thinking, method of portrayal, colours and their application. This is training for the hands and the eyes.

PLEIN AIR
Plein air or painting outdoors has been a long tradition since the school was established. We learn and observe on location as well as draw new ideas. We gain theoretical knowledge in the settings of the classic studios indoors, and we use plein air to learn composition, framing, ground relationships, perspective and tonal relationships, and to learn to see the light (landscape in the sunlight, twilight, rain and different lighting conditions during the day and at night).

» When we go outdoors and sketch moving shapes, people or animals, we train the hand and increase agility, which gives us the results with a huge "plus".

Following the school’s tradition, plein air painting takes place after the first and second year. Plein air atmosphere unites students with each other and connects teachers with students. The acquired knowledge deepens the understanding of classical drawing and painting. Classical drawing and painting is a foundation that provides the future artist or designer with inspiration and a skilled hand.
