Riga Design and Art High School is a place where ideas, creativity and the courage to think differently come together. It is an environment where art and design become a way of life – from the first drawings to a professional career in Latvia and the world.

RDMV is proud of its long history and rich experience in Latvian art and design education. The school premises combine historical architecture and a modern environment – in the wooden building at Lāčplēša Street 55, the spirit of Riga culture is felt, but at the same time everything is adapted to creative and dynamic work.

Learning and creative environment

The school is attended by young people who want to understand the world through form, color and idea. RDMV offers vocational secondary education programs in the fields of design and art – from metal and wood product design to interior, fashion and communication design.

The learning process combines theory with practice – students work in workshops, experiment with materials, create collections, exhibitions and design objects. RDMV students regularly participate in competitions, creative workshops and international projects, representing Latvia with their works in Europe and elsewhere in the world.

People and values

The strength of RDMV lies in its people – its teachers and students – who every day create an environment where creativity is born. The school fosters collaboration, encourages experimentation, and supports learning from mistakes. Each student is seen as a person with their own potential, and the task is to help them discover it.

The school’s core values are openness, creativity, humanity, and professionalism. This is a learning community where ideas are exchanged and inspiration circulates between generations – from masters to aspiring designers.

Mission and vision

RDMV’s mission is to provide high‑quality art and design education, preparing creative, internationally competitive professionals who contribute to social well‑being and the development of Latvian culture.
The school’s vision for its students is a leader with high achievements, creative ambitions, and the motivation to grow both professionally and personally.

Culture and collaboration

RDMV is not only a place of learning, but also a cultural space – here exhibitions, performative projects, fashion shows, and creative events take place. The school actively participates in the national programme “Latvijas skolas soma”, giving students the chance to experience culture up close – from theatre and cinema to contemporary art exhibitions.

The school collaborates with Latvian design and art‑sector companies, museums, and universities, and also implements Erasmus+ mobility projects, in which students and teachers gain international experience.

Here, art becomes a way of thinking, and design becomes the language through which creativity speaks.
