Glassware Design

Glassware design specialists fulfil part of the designer’s responsibilities and tasks in the field of the artistic design of various items and objects; in collaboration with other specialists they design, project and create visually, technologically and functionally justified item designs and pre-production samples as well as take part in the preparation of pre-production samples for production.

» The designer must be a good communicator with a strong will and striving towards healthy competition and orderly environment.

The programme helps students shape their understanding of the specifics of the material along with the extensive possibilities of its application in the environment, interior and architecture; therefore, in addition to studying ergonomics and function, attention is also given to compatibility of the glass with other materials and contemporary technology – metal, wood, concrete or integrated light elements. In terms of design, material is not a goal but a means to achieve the idea, and since the result sought by both the entire school and the Glassware Design programme is a high quality of design, every invigorating initiative gets support. In parallel with professional subjects, students also acquire general education secondary school subjects. Opportunities for further studies are available in Latvian and European design universities and colleges, while employment is available in architecture and design offices.

Evaluate the “self-evident” presence of the glass and discover its wide application in architecture and interior design. The glass is a material which, with its transparency and reflection features, allows other interior elements to stand out and becomes the “most invisible”, but also the most important element. Learn to use it and be irreplaceable!

"Novērtē stikla "pašsaprotamo" klātesamību un atklāj tā plašo pielietojumu arhitektūrā un interjera dizainā. Stikls - materiāls, kas ar savu caurspīdīgumu un atspīdumu īpašībām ļauj izcelties citiem interjera elementiem, kļūst par "neredzamāko", bet svarīgāko elementu. Iemācies to izmantot un kļūsti neaizvietojams!"
